Gift of Love

You are loved!
While it seems the world around us is buying cards, candy, flowers and gifts to celebrate an earthly love this February, at St. Croix the students learn every day about the greatest love—the love of their Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ.
When you hear so much about love this season, remember the ultimate love and Valentine gift—our salvation. Please support St. Croix's tuition assistance program with a Gift of Love today.

... with hard work, anything is possible ...
Zach Tietz, 2011

Hi, I’m Zach Tietz and I’m a senior at St. Croix. I am from a rather large family - there are eight of us siblings. I’m very thankful that I’ve been able to attend St. Croix since I was a freshman. The tuition assistance that I receive has made it possible for me to be here.

For my freshman through junior years I lived on campus in the boys’ dorm. It was a great way for me to get to know kids at St. Croix. It was easy to develop a close bond with my roommates and to get to know kids from all over the world. I wish that our dorm rooms could be larger. I often ended up studying while lying on my bed because there’s not enough room for two desks in each room. Recreation and dining room space is pretty limited, too. We can’t all eat a meal at the same time.

This year my two brothers, two school mates, and I drive to school from home in Menomonie, Wisconsin every day. We leave home at 6:30 a.m. and usually arrive at St. Croix at 7:45 a.m. The winter weather hasn’t been a problem this year…so far.

My teachers at St. Croix have really helped me get a good education, not only in my studies, but also in Christ.  They do a great job of teaching the subject matter and sharing God’s Word every day with all of us students. One of my favorite classes this year is Applied Technology, or shop class. It’s a great “hands on” class, and I’m learning a lot about small engines and how to repair them.

I am especially thankful for the help I have received in the Learning Resource Center, and from Dr. Carrie Pfeifer especially, guiding me with my homework since I was a freshman. Without the LRC I would have really struggled. I know that I have become a better student because of the help I’ve received.

The one thing I have learned the most at St. Croix is that with hard work anything is possible; not only in the classroom, but on the football field, too. Football was the only sport I played at St. Croix. I have worked hard in the weight room since freshman year to get bigger and stronger. I was part of a team that accomplished something St. Croix had never done before, win a state championship. It was really awesome to be a part of this experience. We had a great group of guys on the team with a will to win, and coaches that kept us humble. It was an experience I will never forget. I was really glad we were able to win a state championship for our fans. They really made it a worthwhile experience.
